This bouquet for colleagues. Tulips from central floral corrugation, beautiful color with the transition, but it is very thick.

Pom Poms and Hearts

Earlier in the week, I showed the Girly Skirts I made for my girls.  But I wanted to add a little extra something sweet to the outfits for Valentine’s Day.

Making felt flowers tutorial

How to make a beauty flower

How to make Felt Poinsettia Ornament

I started with three felt circles: two at approximately 3 1/4 inches () and one at 2 1/2.

Mark at equal intervals: eight on the larger, six on the smallest. I've used an air-erasable marker on these, but you can actually cut these markings since they'll be cut here anyway.

tutorial: Lovely Hair Clip Flowers

Holy cow, it’s almost time for my kids to head back to school… and that means one thing:
My project list is very long.
Since I might be the most hairdo challenged person on the planet (my girls can only dream of french braids), the only hope my girls have of looking cute is hair accessories.
Last spring I saw a darling headband made by Amy on Diary of a Quilter.  The rose tutorial had come from Betz White.  That little project has stuck in my mind all these months, and last night I made a few hair clips out of the roses.
I loved making these clips.  The roses are easy and so very pretty.  And any chance to use my scraps of wool is a happy day.

Spring Gnome Sleeping Bag

Spring may bring with it warming days and flowers, but the nights can still get mighty chilly in The Thicket. But just because the gnomes may still need sleeping bags, there's no reason they can't be light and springy! These 2 sleeping bags use bright, cheerful colors, and the heart and flowers speak spring!

Advent calendar

Growing up I remember always loving putting up our advent calendar. It was green with a little snowy scene with little mice. It had 25 little pockets all lined up and my mom and I would fill it with little chocolates or candies of the Christmasy sort. It hung at the bottom of our stairs on a rustic real wood wall. I loved it. It still makes me smile. My mom still has it actually, and I hope it inherit it one day. But for now I'm making one for my kids. Not with the same image but I'm keeping with the design. I am so excited to share this tradition with kids.

Now this isn't a hard project but has a lot of steps so I'm breaking it up into two parts. One thing I hate about some tutorials (mine included) is that they seem to go on forever and I find myself just scrolling through not really reading and then I just take the idea a wing it. Well, I do that no matter what actually, which usually leads to fails that I have to start the project over! But this one so far is coming together amazing.

Obsessed with the Etch

I'm not sure why I am soooo in love with Armour Etch. It might be the classy sophistication a little lather of this stuff adds to any glass object in your home. Or maybe because of it's timeless subtlety, or unlike frosted glass spray paint, it can be washed with no problem. No matter the reason, it's something I will have in my arsenal at all times. Sadly, I have to get a new bottle today, and at Michael's, without a coupon, (who would be crazy enough to buy ANYTHING there without one?) the larger bottle is 30 bucks. Ouch.

We have a silent auction at work at the end of March benefiting the APS of Durham and the SPCA of Wake County. To me, this is just another wonderful excuse to roll up my sleeves and get crafty! I didn't want to donate something someone just "had", I wanted something someone could "use". (I have a point I promise, just stay with me!)

Enter my latest etching victim.
