Pom Poms and Hearts

Earlier in the week, I showed the Girly Skirts I made for my girls.  But I wanted to add a little extra something sweet to the outfits for Valentine’s Day.

Remember my post here with the pretty paints? Well this is what I did with them and how they turned out! Pretty don't you think!?

Step 1. Take of all the labels off the glass jars with warm soapy water
Step 2. Pour paint into the inside of the jars and removing any excess paint
Step 3. Let them dry
Step 4. Decorate them with pretty flowers!

Make Summer Paper Lanterns

Make Summer Paper Lanterns

With a piece of paper, scissors, and a bit of ribbon, you can make cheerful paper lanterns, perfect for decorating your patio. Kids who are old enough to use scissors and cut straight lines can help with this project, too--I remember making paper lanterns like these when I was a kid. I added a couple twists, just for fun: a peek-a-boo contrasting paper, and a ribbon handle.

Paper Party Decorations Part 1: Perfect For The Succah!

Paper Party Decorations-Flower Spheres For The Succah!
Aren't these cute? I sat down at my dining room table with a bunch of colored circles, and this is one of the festive ideas I came up with. If your Succah generally leans on the elegant side (like mine, actually) , so these decorations would look great in neutral contrasting colors too! Imagine creme and gold? Pastel blue and creme?
This week will be packed with lots of fun ideas using mostly paper and glue. So don't panic there's still plenty of time to make wonderful things for your Succah, just make sure to have the necessary supplies on hand! The main thing is to get going now. I'll be starting with the slightly more complicated ideas at the beginning of the week, with several posts each day, and ending with simpler and quicker ideas at the end, when you may be starting to feel the pinch. Take my advice, decorate first and cook later, or don't take my advice. But somehow the cooking always gets done whereas the decorations might not? A beautiful handcrafted Succah is a very important part of our enjoyment of the seven day holiday, so I hope to follow my own advice so as not to stay up the night before hanging decorations!

Felt Flowers Accordian Folded
Ever seen flowers like these before? Me neither, so I was so totally surprised when this oh-so-simple idea popped into my head and came into reality in a matter of minutes. This is the type of crafting that I love— simple, quick and fabulous!

Spring Gnome Sleeping Bag

Spring may bring with it warming days and flowers, but the nights can still get mighty chilly in The Thicket. But just because the gnomes may still need sleeping bags, there's no reason they can't be light and springy! These 2 sleeping bags use bright, cheerful colors, and the heart and flowers speak spring!

Advent calendar

Growing up I remember always loving putting up our advent calendar. It was green with a little snowy scene with little mice. It had 25 little pockets all lined up and my mom and I would fill it with little chocolates or candies of the Christmasy sort. It hung at the bottom of our stairs on a rustic real wood wall. I loved it. It still makes me smile. My mom still has it actually, and I hope it inherit it one day. But for now I'm making one for my kids. Not with the same image but I'm keeping with the design. I am so excited to share this tradition with kids.

Now this isn't a hard project but has a lot of steps so I'm breaking it up into two parts. One thing I hate about some tutorials (mine included) is that they seem to go on forever and I find myself just scrolling through not really reading and then I just take the idea a wing it. Well, I do that no matter what actually, which usually leads to fails that I have to start the project over! But this one so far is coming together amazing.
